How does adding an image to a PDF work?
You upload your PDF and then select an image file — JPEG, PNG, or similar formats — to insert. The editor places the image on the page as a movable, resizable element. You drag it to the right position and resize it by pulling the corners. When you export, the image is embedded into the PDF and the finished file is ready to download. Everything runs in your browser with no server upload.
Is my PDF kept private when I add images to it?
Yes. Both your PDF and the images you insert are processed entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to any external server. We do not store, view, or access any of your files. Once you close the tab, all data is cleared from memory. You can safely add logos, signatures, or photos to sensitive documents.
Is there a file size limit for adding images to a PDF?
The tool works well with PDFs up to 100 MB and supports common image formats including JPEG and PNG. Very large images may increase the final PDF file size significantly, so it is worth resizing images before inserting them if file size matters. For the best performance, keep both the PDF and the images you are inserting reasonably sized — under 10 MB per image is a good guideline.
Will adding an image affect the quality of my PDF?
The existing content of your PDF is not altered — all original text, graphics, and images remain at their original quality. The image you insert is embedded at the resolution of the source file you provide, so using a high-quality image will give you a sharp result. The export process does not re-compress the original pages, so the overall quality of the document is preserved.
What image formats can I insert into a PDF?
The tool supports the most common image formats including JPEG and PNG. These cover the vast majority of use cases — photos, logos, signatures, stamps, and diagrams. If your image is in a different format like TIFF or BMP, you can convert it to JPEG or PNG first using any free image converter before inserting it into your PDF.
Does the image insertion tool work on mobile and all browsers?
Yes. It runs in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on both desktop and mobile. You can upload a PDF and insert images from your phone or tablet without installing any app. Dragging and resizing images is supported on touchscreens, though a larger screen makes precise positioning easier. Make sure your browser is up to date for the smoothest experience.
